"Our vision is simple and powerful - to end suicide"...Mount Lawrence documents the journey of Chandler Wild, a young man determined to spiritually reconnect with the father he lost to suicide in 2007. Chandler embarks on a 6,700-mile bicycle journey to the end of the road in Alaska. Once there, his plan is to scale an unnamed mountain and name it after his father, Lawrence. Chandler's burning desire to leave something in remembrance of the life his father lived, and make peace with the way he died, drives him forward over six months of physically and emotionally challenging travel across the heart of the North American continent.
Donna Firman, Board President of Prevent Suicide Manitowoc County, feels the film’s core message aligns well with the organization’s work. “Our vision is simple and powerful – to end suicide,” she says. “We also work to create resilience for those impacted by suicide through support and education. This film helps us shed light, increase awareness and continue the difficult but necessary conversations around ending suicide and supporting survivors.” The screening is also a pre-cursor to Prevent Suicide Manitowoc County’s largest fundraising event of the year. Their 11th Annual Run/Walk for Hope takes place Saturday, Sept. 17 at UW Green Bay-Manitowoc. Event details and registration can be found at https://preventsuicidemanitowoc.com/walk-run-for-hope. The screening is being presented in part through the generous support of Carmeuse Lime & Stone in Manitowoc. Watch a trailer for Mount Lawrence at the All The Way Around Productions website. |
